Driving License Category A1
Driving License Category A1 is a permit to drive motorized two-wheeled vehicles. It permits you to drive small motorcycles or mopeds with an engine power no greater than 11 kW.
The procedure to obtain this license is a bit different from other categories. Let's look at the steps.
Prerequisites
You need to be at minimum 16 years old to get a driving license category A1. This license permits the driver to operate a light motorcycle, while A2 and A are reserved for larger motor vehicles. You also must complete an initial aid course and complete theoretical training based on the full curriculum. This is available from various driving schools. Prices can vary, but all of them follow the same curriculum.
The practical training is made up of several driving lessons. The classes run between three and four hours each. The instructors will instruct you on the fundamentals of your motorcycle and the fundamental rules of road. The amount of training hours depends on your ability and your learning progress, but the curriculum requires at least 5 hours of training on federal roads and four hours of instruction on country roads. You'll also have to take special riding classes that are designed to enhance the skills you have in difficult situations.
Anyone who wants to drive a vehicle in the category C must possess a licence to drive that is category B or higher. A person who already has an endorsement of category B can continue with the training of category A1 by following an abbreviated program however, they must complete a minimum of 10 theory and ten driving lessons at a driving school. This is not an option for those who have an A1 category licence.
Driving License Category A1 is a great alternative for teenagers or adults who already driving but want to test something new. The restrictions that apply to this type of licence are intended to ensure the safety of everyone involved. However, they may be removed if you demonstrate that you have the capacity to safely operate larger vehicles.
In addition to having a valid driver's licence, you must also have a medical certificate. Depending on your health you may have to pass an eye examination or other tests. You can upgrade your license by adding an endorsement. This usually requires passing a second knowledge test and sometimes a skills test.
Training
To obtain a Driving License Category A1, you must pass both the theory and practical test. In addition you must take part in courses in theory and receive training. The course will teach you the fundamental concepts of motorcycling and traffic regulations that you will be able to apply in your future driving. Once you have successfully completed the theory and practical tests, you are now able to drive a vehicle that has an engine capacity of up to 125cc. You can upgrade your Category A1 driver's licence to full category A by the age of 20 if you had the subcategory A2 license for two years. It is important to note that you require the consent of your guardian before you can apply for a Driving License category A1. In Belgium the full category-A licence is required to drive a three-wheeled motorcycle or moped. You can drive a full category A1 motorbike only if you possess an A1 full category or full A2 licence. In some countries, you may be able to gain easier access to higher licence categories by first driving motorbikes that are less powerful. Theory test
The Driving License Category A1 exam is a two-part test that comprises a theoretical portion as well as a practical part. Practical test
The test for the practical portion of the Driving License Category A1 exam is split into two parts. The first part involves the examiner checking your motorcycle and preparing you to drive. Then, you will be required to perform a number of tasks in a test area. These include an angle start (moving away from behind a parked car) and a variety of normal starts. You will also be asked to do several hill starts and also turning left and right on the road. The examiner will also ask you to follow a particular route and to drive ahead, unless directed otherwise by radio.

Before you can get your license, you will also have to pass a medical test. You must also show evidence of a first-aid course and pass the vision test. If you are younger than 18 years old, you must get the consent of your legal guardian or parent to apply for a driving license.
